I suggest you goto powerlink.emc.com and get a support account. There's plenty of information on this topic on the Support Forums.

a quick overview.

what centera is/not:
1. it is not a storage that you plug and play, get some drivers, and walah, drive x: appears
2. you need an API to access it
3. it does not store record on a single continous physical location, but a calculated location or addresses hence content addressable storage
4. it has built in retention mechanism, if you set that a document's life is infinite, you can burn centera but you wont be able to delete/modify that file
5. documentum has built in support for centera and is tightly integrated to RPS, you need to purchase a license to enable this function though
6. centera is sold per 4TB
7. doj in the US will accept a document from centera as good as a physical document (evidence in litigaion) because centera can assure to protect the documents from any form of modification. in fact, centera is built in for this purpose and has earned certification from us-dod.
8. a typpical non-chaging document that is stored in centera is birth certificate
